Who Is TEC Automation

Welcome to TEC Automation, a locally-owned, female, indigenous Australian company proudly serving the Northern Territory (NT) since our founding in 2019. Founded by Directors Soraya and Ryan, our team brings together over two decades of combined experience in electrical, hazardous area, and instrumentation solutions and services. From commercial and industrial applications to residential/domestic setups, sewerage and water systems, HVAC, BMS (Building Management Systems), SCADA systems, and communications, we specialize in providing comprehensive automation solutions tailored to the unique needs of our clients.

Strategically located with head offices in Darwin and Katherine, we are centrally positioned to serve clients across the NT efficiently and effectively. Our expertise extends to various sectors, including oil, gas, mining, and other industries requiring advanced electrical solutions.

Soraya + Ryan Smith

Co-Directors

Soraya is the majority owner of TEC Automation, and is responsible for the accounting and financial side of the business and also manages the operational team in the TEC Automation office.

She was born and raised in Darwin and is a descendent of the Butchulla people, traditional owners of K’Gari; formally known as Fraser Island. Her family has ties to North Queensland and Ambrym Island, Vanuatu.

Ryan has over 14 years’ experience in the electrical industry with a dual trade in electrical and instrumentation. During this time, he has become an electrician known for his technical knowledge and innovative approach.

Soraya and Ryan each bring something unique to TEC Automation which makes the business stand out from its competition and has resulted in unparalleled growth for the company since their launch in March of 2019.

Founder + Director

Soraya provides up to 10 years of experience in Training, Quality Assurance, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Accounts and Administration.
Ryan
Director

Ryan brings versatility with his experience in multiple commercial and industrial applications from Sewer and Water systems large and small through to Industrial Air-conditioning Systems.

Daily Operations Team

Working In The Office

The Daily Operations Team is responsible for keeping TEC Automation running smoothly and efficiently. They are our customer contact point, there to answer questions, provide updates, and support our field team with their responsive and problem-solving approach on a daily basis.

The Technical Team are our skilled technicians on the ground, providing a high quality service to our customers and working with our clients to design solutions to any and all their Electrical, HVAC, Instrumentation, and Building Management SCADA needs.

Abhishek Arora, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, joined our team at TECA in 2023, working in both field and office team .
